Deeper Cleanings
When plaque and tarter build up below the gumline, a regular cleaning may not be enough. A deeper cleaning removes this buildup to help control gum inflammation and prevent gum disease from getting worse.
Debridement
A debridement is a thorough cleaning used when there is a significant amount of plaque and tartar buildup that makes it difficult to properly evaluate the health of your gums. It removes the heavy buildup so we can complete a more detailed exam and determine the best treatment for your smile.
Scaling & Root Planing (SRP)
SRP is a deeper cleaning used to treat gum disease and is usually completed over multiple appointments. We carefully remove plaque and tartar from below the gumline and smooth the tooth roots to help the gums heal and reattach to the teeth. This helps reduce inflammation and protect your teeth and gums.
Periodontal Maintenance
After SRP (scaling and root planing), periodontal maintenance visits are essential to keep gum disease under control. These regular cleanings help remove plaque and bacteria before they build back up in areas that are difficult to clean at home, helping protect your gums, bone, and teeth and prevent the disease from progressing.
